June Ereño-Orbea
Ikerbasque Research Associate @ CIC bioGUNE

June Ereño-Orbea obtained her BSc in Biochemistry from the University of the Basque Country and a PhD in Molecular Biology and Biomedicine (2015). She then pursued postdoctoral research at SickKids Hospital (Canada), where she characterized B cell receptors with immunotherapeutic potential. In 2019, she joined CIC bioGUNE as an Ikerbasque Fellow, and in 2024 was appointed Ikerbasque Research Associate, Caixa Junior Leader, and group leader of the Cancer Glycoimmunology Lab. Her research explores the molecular and functional interactions between immune receptors and glycans involved in cancer immune evasion, using structural, molecular, and cellular approaches. Her lab also develops antibody-based therapeutics to advance cancer immunotherapy.
